Check Verification

Check verification is one of the most powerful prevention tools to fight against bad check writers. It’s available via our Virtual Terminal or Payment Gateway. It can be integrated directly into your existing software application using our advanced API to verify checks in real-time and get the most up to date information on your check writer’s account. We offer two distinct levels of check verification.

Level 2 Check Verification

Our second level (Level 2) is participated by most major financial institutions with more than 200 million accounts which are updated each business day. The data provided in Level 2 is of the opening of that business day and it will help you decide to accept or decline a check payment reducing bad checks:

  • The account is an open
  • Sufficient funds to cover the amount of check
  • The account is currently NSF
  • Account Stolen/Forged/Fraud
  • The account is closed, frozen and non-existent

Level 1 Check Verification

Our advance level (Level 1) lets your business verify the following on the check writer’s account through real-time and through your check writer’s financial institution. It provides you with a simple accept or decline message depending on the data and information provided such as:

  • Automated real-time sufficient funds verification
  • The account is currently NSF
  • The account is closed, frozen and/or non-existent
  • Stop payment
  • Non DDA account
  • Invalid account number or routing number

Bad Check Writers Database

If neither Level 1 nor Level 2 produces verification results then it can be set to check one or more of the largest negative databases of known bad check writers.
